MySQL is an open source database management system and stores data of various applications in a structured manner. The data can consist of text but also figures or pictures can be stored using MySQL.

MySQL is easily combined with PHP and Perl, and is also a very handy database for content management systems or CMS. Because Oqapi uses CMS, Perl and PHP frequently, MySQL as main database management system is a logical choice for us.
