Joeri de Bruin - Oqapi

Joeri is a 'homo universalis', an eternal optimist, his eye for business and the years of experience with custom software solutions give Oqapi the opportunity to choose from a broad range of technically innovative solutions.

Experience

His years as a partner in Procolix provided Joeri with a variety of experiences and many different skills. Since the start of 2007 the partners at Procolix decided to continue with own companies, so Joeri started up Oqapi.

Joeri's specialization is mainly open source languages such as Perl, PHP and MySQL. For many companies (for example: KPN, Kinzo and Difrax) he designed new WebGUI plugins so existing websites and databases can easily be converted or work together with the WebGUI CMS. Due to the open source character, lots of really useful plugins were added to the WebGUI core.

Databases linking with dynamical websites or a diversity of dashboard applications, Joeri knows how to handle them. For the intranet of Syncera, Joeri designed a dashboard application using AJAX. With this application users of the intranet can see for example whether someone gives a drink for his birthday. Furthermore the users themselves can add modules and arrange their own page according to their preferences.

Presentations

In 2006 Joeri discussed the use of Flash objects during his presentation at the WebGUI Users Conference (WUC) in Las Vegas. Joeri gave a presentation about handling SQL-reports at the WUC in october 2007 (Madison, Wisconsin). At the WUC 2008 he discussed building a YUI Navigation, and this year at the WUC 2009 he gave a presentation as well, he discussed how to write payment plugins for WebGUI.

When Joeri is not at work...

In his time off, Joeri likes to sail. One of his other passions is cooking, at home but occasionaly for groups of about 100 people too. When the sun is shining, Joeri can be found outside. Since Joeri lives in a  house with a big garden, he likes gardening. Soon Joeri will become father for the first time!
